Marilyn Medalie became synonymous with high-quality human-hair wigs in 1978 when she launched Johannesburg’s first wig business. A true pioneer, she was for many years the only person in South Africa importing, selling, and styling wigs. Her commitment to excellence took her around the world, working closely with suppliers and stylists to perfect her craft, and earning her a trusted reputation built on skill, warmth, and integrity.

From this legacy, Mint Salon was founded in 2015 by Marilyn and her daughter, Faygie. Immersed in the world of wigs from the age of five, Faygie grew up learning the art and precision behind exceptional craftsmanship.
As the local market evolved, it became clear that imported wigs no longer met the standards they believed in.

Determined to raise the bar, Faygie travelled globally to source the finest virgin hair and master the creation of wigs that look and feel truly natural.
By working closely with trusted suppliers, standards were raised while consistency and availability improved.

This transition allowed us to gain full control over every stage of the process, from sourcing through to construction, fit, and finishing. It allowed us to improve consistency and availability, while ensuring that each wig is crafted with integrity and skill from the very source, to the final stitch.

From this vision, ASNA was born: exceptional craftsmanship made accessible. Today, ASNA supplies premium wigs to salons and stores across the United States, England, Paris, and South Africa.
